Build creatives
The Creative Builder is a canvas-based editor for composing designed content. Unlike a raw image, a creative is made of layers — images, video, text, and shapes — that you can animate and arrange precisely. When you're done, you publish the creative as a self-contained HTML package that screens can play.
The design pipeline
Template → Creative (draft) → HTML Package (asset) → Playlist
| Concept | What it is | Who edits it |
|---|---|---|
| Template | A reusable starting point for a design | Admins / super admins |
| Creative | An editable design draft | Any team member |
| HTML Package | A compiled, published asset | Generated from a creative |
Create a creative
- Go to Creatives and click New Creative (or start from a template).
- Set the canvas size and background colour.
- Add layers from the toolbar.
Layer types
- Image — a still from your media library.
- Video — a video clip from your media library.
- Text — static text with full styling.
- Dynamic text — text bound to an external data source (for example, Google Sheets).
- Rectangle / Circle — shapes with solid or gradient fills, borders, and rounded corners.
Animation
Each layer can have animation presets applied:
- Fade in / fade out
- Pulse
- Slide in from top, bottom, left, or right
Set the overall duration of the creative to control how long the animation timeline runs before it loops.
Preview and publish
- Click Preview to see the creative play in the browser.
- When you're happy, click Publish. Xignage compiles the creative into an HTML package and generates a thumbnail.
- The published package is now available to add to playlists like any other media item.
Publishing creates a new version, so you can iterate on a creative and republish without losing the previous one.
