Register a screen
Before a screen can show content it must be paired with your Xignage team. Xignage uses a pairing code flow: the device generates a short code, and you enter it in the dashboard to link the device to your account. Once linked, the screen receives a permanent token it uses to authenticate from then on.
1. Install the player app
Install the Xignage player app on your display device (for example, an
Android TV or a player box). Open the app — it contacts the platform and
displays a pairing code (for example, ABC123).
2. Link the device
- In the Xignage dashboard, go to Screens.
- Click Link Device.
- Enter the pairing code shown on the screen.
- Confirm. The screen is now associated with your team.
The pairing code is short-lived. If it expires before you enter it, refresh it on the device and try again.
3. Confirm the screen is online
The linked screen appears in the Screens list. Its status shows online
once the player app has authenticated and checked in. From here you can:
- Assign it to a site.
- Add it to a screen group.
- Assign a playlist and publish.
How authentication works
After linking, the screen exchanges its pairing code for a bearer token. It uses that token for every subsequent request — fetching its display configuration, sending heartbeats, and submitting proof-of-play events. You don't need to manage the token yourself; the player app handles it.
If a screen loses its link (for example, after a factory reset), simply generate a new pairing code on the device and link it again.
Next steps
- Manage screens — status, remote commands, screenshots.
- Publish changes to push content to it.
